Always Smiling

My sweet Nannie passed away this week.  She was 91 in March.  I have very happy memories of her. She was a great cook, crafter, wife, mother, friend & loved the Lord. She lived a simple life.  She had altizmer's for a long time. But she still smiled and sang songs.  Today she's in heaven & I'm so happy for her!

I wanted to do a layout in her memory using a picture  that was taken 2001 @ Christmas.  She loved & collected dolls.

My design was inspired by Sarah Webb's Challenge @ Scrapbook & Cards Today

Layered solid cardstock on a strip of K and Company DP.
I layered to punch out flowers (Flea Market), threaded some Really Reasonably Ribbon to a button and journaled Nannie's info on a small tag.
I stamped the background image (SU French Filigree) with distress ink (SU Crumb Cake) on a stamp & added the butterflies. I embossed the butterflies with silver embossing powder.

Word Art Wednesday Challenge

Hello everyone! Time for another wonderful scripture challenge.

This week our scripture is:

As Christians, part of our job is to share Christ's love with other.  So many people think they can't witness to others.  It doesn't have to be a big paragraph being said that tells others about Christ-it's the every day life we live. Every where we go, what we say, how we react to situations-that's "letting our light shine" so that God will be glorified.

Have you done something nice for someone lately?  I made a big pot of mashed potatoes, cabbage & bought some KFC. Made 3 meals & delivered them yesterday while I was off.  Couple of senior saints and my aunt who recently had knee surgery.  They all were super glad to see me (they didn't turn the food down).  That's one way to "let your light shine".

My card using our scripture:
The background for my scripture was cut with spellbinder die.  The background paper is K & Co.
I used dimensional s on the back of the scripture.
I stamped the lighthouse image on vellum with versa mark & then embossed it in black. I colored the back of the vellum with markers in a few places.  The white background paper I painted sand & sky.  When I put them together-my total image worked well.

PSC 34: Anything Goes!!

This week @ Perfect Sentiments we're opening it up for your creativity.

The Challenge: Anything Goes with a sentiment on the front! Yep, you read that right! You can create anything you want as long as there is a sentiment on the front. Cards, ATC's, Tags, Altered Art, Home Decor Items, etc.

The Twist: I was going to say no scrapbook pages. However, if you create a scrapbook page that clearly has a stamped sentiment, scripture or quote on it you may enter it. It must be stamped, it cannot be digital and the Title of your scrapbook page does not count.

I was provided a digi image from our sponsor: Limited Run Stamps
I went a little crazy with the embossing powders-but I love how it turned out!
The race car cupcake & the sentiment I coated in versa mark & embossed with clear powder.  Made them resemble a sticker. Has a shiny finish.
After putting the designer paper down the middle, I wanted something on the edges.  I embossed party hats in silver & the twirls in cherry cobbler.

I loved the digi image so much I decided to do another card!  I've learned a new technique using my embossing folders.  You layer 2-3 pieces of card stock and run them thru the folder and it totally meshes the 2 together and give you texture.

I got this plastic Happy Birthday off a real cupcake! It's a Perfect Sentiment.

You can check out more image from our sponsor this week @

Prize:  Three (3) digis from the Limited Runs store

Lady Bug PPA135

I was rocking my granddaughter in her bedroom and noticed the lady bugs on her wall.  I realized how easy it would be to make them with punches. ( I'm sure others have been doing it a long time)

Picked this pack of paper up @ Michael's for 80 cents!

I also used a new technique I learned from my Stampin Up demonstrator-Vicki Cobler.
First I glued a piece of green on the background & ran it thru an embossing folder.  It totally meshes the 2 papers together.

I cut 2 circles using 1 1/4 inch circle for the lady bug body.  1/2 inch circle for it's head.
This is one of 3 cards I designed.  I used the sketch from Pals Paper Arts.

The designer papers are worked well with the ribbon I picked up for $1.  As you can see it's very versatile.  Look up close at this last lady bug.  I pressed 3 layers of paper thru the embossing folder.

thanks for stopping by-hope you're inspired to punch some lady bugs!

Prayer Request/Urgent

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Please join me in praying for a cyber friend: Paula.  She's a wonderful and faithful child of God that's going thru a difficult journey-cancer.
Our God is a faithful God.  He's word says when 2 or more agree our prayers are answered.

Word Art Wednesday challenge

Hello from Virginia!
Hope your having a great week.  God is so good.
In a world where you can't trust hardly anyone-we can trust our Lord God.  His word says it & I believe it!
There is a lot of sorrow & heartache everywhere we look these days.   I don't like complaining to others-they really don't want to hear it.  But God says "pour out your heart before him". Your troubles, your good times, your praises-everything! He loves us and wants to hear it all.
I looked up what Selah means: praise, lift up, and pause. Praise the Lord-he cares!

 How'd I do it?
On top of the plain lime green cardstock, I layered a tag that I sponged with acrylic paint & allowed to dry.
I cut the small & medium rectangles with spellbinder die. Before you take the paper off the die-sponge around the edges with distress ink.
I layered 3 hearts on top of each other & bent them to the middle.
I doubled my ribbon & tied a small piece around the middle to gather it. (my sweet sister in law makes BIG bows with that technique)

Our sponsor this week is: Lisa's Altered Art.
You can't win if you don't play.  Our scripture this week is:

PLEASE check out our design team members as well.  You can find them @ Word Art Wednesday

Thanks for stopping by & have a blessed Wednesday!

PSC33: Special Man Challenge

I used a digi from Dude Time Doodles.  It's for a special friend that's turning 63.  Wanted to poke some fun at him! He loves to fish.

I colored the images with markers & pencils. I sponged the water & sky.  I punched the sentiment papers & then used a white gel pen to draw around it to resemble a fish.

I think it's adorable! Hope Bill likes it.

Won't you participate? Not just to win a prize, but to take on the challenge:

No designer paper & a manly sentiment on the front of your card.

Sweet Hour of Prayer

In blogging this morning, I ran across Little Birdies Blessings
She's a great woman of faith.  She's talking about the power of prayer.

I think we forget sometimes the power God has given us in prayer. The bible says:

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Matthew 21:21-23

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Romans 12:11-13

Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
1 Corinthians 7:4-6

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:17-19

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:5-7

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
2 Thessalonians 1:2-4

Actually when I looked up the word prayer @ Biblegateway there were 154 verses that have prayer in them. I've only listed a few.

Abby has issued a challenge to spend time this week in prayer for others.  I'm taking it on.

I pray for a sweet lady, Tracy @   He Is Able.  She's very dedicated to praying for others.

Please join us in praying with a heart like Jesus!

Happy Monday!

Wanted to share a couple of new techniques I learned @ my Southern Crafter's class Thursday.
We used all Stampin Up products (except the wax paper!!)
The first one is a resist technique using was paper.  Amazing what we can craft with isn't it!

You can either run a piece of wax paper thru your Big Shot using an embossing folder or just scrunch it up & smooth it back out.  Then you'll put it between a glossy sided paper.   Then you are going to iron it-that's right IRON IT.  To protect your cardstock, we ironed it between a plain piece of paper.  15-20 seconds on each side.

The wax comes off onto the glossy paper.  You then sponge ink -any color. You can think die cut it any shape.  We just used a rectangle piece in the middle of our card front.

Do you see all the texture on it?  Love it!

This blue card is really easy.  Ink your silouette stamp really good.  After you press down-lift & press again a little off set from the first one.  Really makes a nice shadow.  We punch 2 holes on the side of the card stock & ran our ribbon thru.

If you're interested in learning new techniques & buying high quality products, check out my demonstrator's blog:  Vicki Cobler with Stampin Up.

Belated Mother's Day Card

I was on vacation for Mother's Day, so I didn't get to celebrate with my mom.  We celebrated Mother's Day yesterday.  I already made a card for her----then I saw Julia Stainton's new card!

Check her's out @ Belle Papier.  Here's mine:

I did some sponging & distressing on a couple of pieces of white cardstock with some stencils I've had forever!
After the layers, I added a flower & bird.

The Envelope

We ate lunch @ Texas Steakhouse & went back to my parents house & played canasta.  It was tied 2-2.  Me & Dad against Mom & Donnie.  Was so much fun!

3 Generations-Fear not

Hope everyone is having an awesome week!  We have another great word art challenge for you!

When we get married we vow to be a helpmate to our spouse thru thick & thin.  Our God promises us the same thing. He "holds our hand".   We don't have to worry about any challenge in life-We're never alone! Praise the Lord!

My Mom & Dad, my son & Daughter in Law & my husband & I have all had to face different difficulties -each one unique. Each time the Lord was with us! His love for us never changes-no matter how many generations go by.

Our challenge this week is sponsored by: Heart an Soul Rubber Stamp Co

Our talented design team will have much more inspiration so check them out @ Word Art Wednesday. You can get your FREE word art there as well!

Get Well without saying it!

Get well without saying get well! Are you confused??  We want you to use any other well wish you want without actually using the words "get well". Jennipher @ Perfect Sentiments Challenge blog is always coming up with something fun & new!

I had this idea driving to work one morning.  I wanted the feature to be this beautiful DP from K & Co. I cut my flower with my cricut-size 5.  I wanted it to be too big so I could have it coming off the page.  My mom just gave me a load of old buttons.  So for my center I used glossy accents to glue the buttons down
I'm still loving mt new butterfly die from stampin up. So I scattered some small butterflies on the flourish. I think it makes a cute card.
Our wonderful sponsor this week:  Shelly's Images has been so faithful to our blog to sponsor us. Thanks so much Shelly!!

This is a "card" challenge with a twist
My Sentiment is Happy Birthday. Sentiment has to be on front of card.
The twist: use vellum

I'm going to show you the new technique I learned from my Stampin Up Demonstrator. Vicki Cobler

I embossed the flower stamp on the front of the vellum with white embossing powder. The you TURN IT OVER & color it in with markers. It takes a lite hand.  Since the vellum is being backed by white cardstock-you can't even tell it;'s vellum.  It's attached in the four corners with a small adhesive dot. I covered the dot with a half back pearl.
Here's a side view of the embossed image.

Word Art Wednesday Challenge

Happy Wednesday!
This post has been scheduled for several days because I'm on vacation! I'm sure I'm having a fabulous time! LOL  Wish you all could have come with me.
I'll be sharing some photos when I get back.  Will probably be scrapping alot of it.

Our challenge this week features this scripture:
I think we can all agree that God is GOOD.  Do we realize he's someone that's strong & firm in our time of trouble?  We're fast to call our friends when we're in trouble & find out if they can help us.
When I was thinking about who trusted in God -My Grandparents immediately came to mind.  They were a quiet generation. Hardworking. But at the end of the day you knew who they put their trust in for their daily lifes
I designed the background paper my self. Used a lattice die & sponge around it. I really like how it turned out.

This week's sponsor is:Detailed For you

PSC30 Mother's Day @ Perfect Sentiments

Happy Wednesday! Perfect Sentiments Challenge wants to see what YOU can come up with doing our challenge this week.

You could win 5 digital images from Robyns Fetish shop

It's not much longer till Mother's Day so this is the week to make sure you have your's done!
The sentiment needs to be on the front of the card.
The twist: have to use handmade flowers

The pink cardstock was altered by stamping flowers & vines using Tim Holtz distress ink. Then I took a white gel pen & did some coloring on top of it. I have a close up on the 3rd picture.
Our image was provided by our sponsor this week. Isnt' she cute?  I colored her with pencils & distress the edges.  I'll be using her again!
The main part of my flower: I used 1 inch wide strip from my 12 inch designer paper & scored every 1/4 inch, folded back & forth & pressed into circle-had 2 small circles already punched & waiting & hot glued them to the center.  I sandwiched it in between 2 diecut flowers (Stampin up dies) and topped it with a button from my stash after tying some taffeta around it. Cute button huh?
