Altered Box-Vintage Style

Happy Friday!!! This week has flown by!  I hope you've had a creative one. One of my most favorite things to do is alter boxes. I start by painting the edges-which in this case end up covered pretty good.  I used Tim Holtz vintage photo distress paint-it comes in a dabber bottle.  Works so well to go around edges. Since the box top covers the bottom of the box-you don't want to put designer paper on the bottom edges-the box won't shut properly.  So the paper is only on the bottom I collaged the top of the box.  Ripped pieces approximately 2x2 size.  Liquitex matt medium will glue is all down nicely.  Then is sprayed some  brown spritzer..

I had this wonderful trim from my stash.  Been itching to use it!  Use your hot glue gun to attach it all the way around your edges. The pic below shows the glass feet I put on when I'm finished-use hot glue or glossy accents.
I started layering.   had a dress form that I had mod-podged and inked up that I put a safety pin in, a spe…

Altered Gift Bag-Unity Oct Challenge

Unity Stamp Company October Challenge Love their stamps-I've been neglecting them lately. This cute stamp was embossed with SU pool party. The paper is Kaiser Craft. Added a cute little flower from Wild Orchid Flowers. Ribbon from Marie's Closet on ETsy.

Unity Challenge: Celebrate the Season

Unity Stamp Company has a monthly challenge. They have colors you can use or two sketches. I used the sketch and most of the colors on this gift bag. The paper is from Kaisercraft Christmas Tradition it is gorgeous paper! The sentiment is from Unity Itty Bitty and so is the cute little girl.

Mixed Media Canvas: I Choose Joy

I have so enjoyed learning how to create mixed media pieces.  This 11x14 canvas has several layers to the background.  I mod podged some torn pieces of designer paper, put some acrylic paint on with a brush, thru a stencil, sponged on the edges. The heart was free hand cut from a piece of cardboard. I colored it with gesso, gelatos, acrylic paint. I cut the letter with my cricut and mod podged them into place. My girl is totally inspired by Cassandra -find her website here

I hope your inspired to try your hand at mixed media!

I'm entering this at Word Art Wednesday Challenge #101-the very first design team I was ever on! They have just celebrated their 100th challenge!  You should join them!

Christmas Tissue Box

Christmas Tissue Box Picked up the wooden (or MDF) box at Goodwill. Very sturdy. Covered all four sides with same background paper, but did a different focal point on each side. Love the colors of this designer paper.  Some K and company die cuts are put on top of a handmade rosette.
The two large flowers I made using Stampin Up die Bigz Flowers.  The smaller ones are from Wild Orchid.  The top paper is brown and run thru my Big shot with some mahogany glaze brayered on my embossing folder.

Altered Shoebox-Horses Rule!

This is the top of the box. The horse is a digital image from Stamp N Doodle. I adhered everything except the die cut flowers with Liquitex matt medium.  This is one side-the other side matches. I fussy cut the daisy designer paper (from stash), used flower punch for the burgundy red flowers (paper is thick and textured),

the handmade flowers were 3 layers of die cut flowers.  After you cut them, spritz them with water and scrunch them up tight-allow to dry.  Gently open them up, distress the edges and layer with hot glue.  I added a flat back pearl to the center.
I used thick designer paper by Kraft.  Measured top and bottom.  Stamped images using Black Archival Ink and colored them with Prisma colored pencils.

Stamp set from Mark's Finest Paper.

I also covered the inside with light designer paper.
