CSI challenge 141-Mixed Media Layout

If you need a jumping point to create a layout-check out CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration.

To play this week, I created my own designer paper layering stencils and inks.

I did some doodling.
I adore the color scheme they had. Purple, greens, white & black.  Fits my granddaughters' outfit perfect!

DIY Altered Embrodiery Hoop/Mixed Media

Hi! I'm submitting this altered embroidery hoop for the Wild Orchid Crafts Design Team.

I have loved their products for years!!  Have hoarded them just as long! LOL
Recently, I've been using them a lot.
I especially love their flat back pearls.  You can get different colors & sizes.
The quality of the their flowers is untouchable!

They can be altered as well.  The layers will pull apart, you can spray inks on them, add stamen, stickles, etc.

Here are some pictures and below is my You Tube video:

The stencils are by my friend Retta.  You can purchase them HERE.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #16

Hi!
I am excited to share with you from Craft Hoarders Anonymous today.

Most paper crafters also love school and office supplies. We love crayons, markers, shaped paperclips, notepads, folders, and more! If you hoard school and office products, get them out! Use them up! Use at least one item that is really a school or office supply on your project.
Our Sponsors: Heartfelt Creations, Crafty Secrets, Lindy's Stamp Gang

This challenge came at the perfect moment -I just started college classes.
I couldn't just carry a plain ole notebook-could I??

I altered a composition book using Heartfelt Creations Designer Paper.
I love fussy cutting their paper.  I really didn't want a lot of bulk on top since I will be using it a lot, I fussy cut flowers.  To add some WOW-I distressed the edges with vintage photo distress ink and added Bisque liquid pearls
to the centers.  When adding them to your project, put some flat and add dimensionals to some to overlap and add depth.
The pearls are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Now-you've got to head over the Craft Hoarders Anonymous blog and enter Challenge #16 yourself!!  You could win some fabulous prizes!!

Thanks to Gloria for allowing me to guest design with her and her fabulous Design Team!!

Making your own Mixed Media Designer Paper

Are you here from Party Time Tuesdays?  Welcome!!

If not-Welcome!! LOL
You need to hop on over there for our challenges.

I love making my own designer paper using mixed media.

Started with a 8.5x11 piece of cardstock. Start spraying Lindy's Stamp Gang spays on top of a white doily.  Pick up and move the doily around the page. Allow to dry thoroughly.
WARNING!!  You will get ink on you-that's part of the fun!! LOL
Use a large background stamp to stamp versa mark all over the page and emboss in black.  (or you could stamp in black archival ink)  I wanted some texture.
I measured, cut and covered a match box with my paper.  Used the whole sheet-no waste!  Distress your edges as you go with Walnut Distress ink.
Decorated with vintage lace, wired ribbon, Wild Orchid flowers and pearls, and a scripture from Inspired Stamps.
Inside I added a blessing poem from my friend Patti.
I glue glass beads on the bottom for "feet".  It also adds tons of cuteness!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  If you have ANY questions-please message me.  I love your comments. Have a blessed day!

Revelation 2;7 Word Art Wednesday

This week at Word Art Wednesday the FREE scripture is very appropriate for a card I'm sending to a friend.  We all need to be reminded-when we accept God we inherit an eternal home in heaven.  No one can ever take it away from us! Praise the Lord!!

The designer paper, candy dots & lace stamp (in background) is from Stampin Up.
I hope you'll join in the challenge with Word Art Wednesday this week. Challenge #149

Bokeh Technique-VERY COOL!!

Saw a new technique that I just had to try. I love the results.  See the video below to see the watercolor-stencil technique (Bokeh)
Use watercolor paper 140pd. Distress inks.
When colored-I spritzed with Lindy's Stamp Gang.
Card base next. Layer with different colored circles.  Beautiful results!
Below I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card front.  The crown was cut using my Cricut machine.  The leaves are from Paper Artsy.  Left the background white on this card.
Thank You was cut with my Cricut.  Ribbon from Really Reasonable ribbon.
The sentiment is an SVG file from Kate's Cutables.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!!

Guest @ Craft Hoarders Anonymous

I am excited to be a guest designer for Craft Hoarders Anonymous this month!!

Gloria Stengel started this blog with challenges for you to use the craft supplies you hoard.
Great idea right?!
When I started thinking about my supplies-I realized, much to my dismay, I hoard a lot of stuff!
Why?  You know the companies are constantly making cuter and nicer stuff all the time!

This challenge is:

Challenge #15 All the Pretty Flowers
This challenge is for all of you flower hoarders! Maybe you hoard pre-made flowers. Maybe you hoard flower punches or dies. Maybe you hoard flower stamps. "Dig" out those flowers and use them on your project!
I've created a prayer box.  I altered a matchbox.  I made my own designer paper using stencils, inks and black stazon.  My hoarded flowers are Wild Orchid Flowers.  The string flat back pearls are from WOF.  The vintage lace I buy locally from a friend.
Inside my cute box is a poem written by Patti at A Soul's Heartbeat.  It's about listing your everyday blessings.  You know-the little things: a smile, a hug, a rainbow....you get the idea.  That way when you're having a bad day-you can look in your box and be reminded of God's blessings!

Head on over to the challenge blog:  Craft Hoarders Anonymous and create something to share with us using your hoarded flowers!!  You will get lots of inspiration from the designers over there.  You might even win a prize!!

Fall Flowers for Party Time Tuesday

Sharing this cute tag with Party Time Tuesday fans.

I started with a plain prima tag and covered both side with pattern paper (eek! I know-I love them as they are, but sometimes I just can't help but cover them up!!)

The stamps I've used are from Inspired Stamps.
I stamped music notes in the background and distressed the edges with Vintage photo distress ink.

The scripture I stamped onto cream cardstock and punched with a decorative label Stampin Up punch. It fits perfectly in the metal frame.
I did add some distress paint and gold accents to the top of the metal frame. Glued it right down to my tag.
I encircled the tag with vintage lace, string pearls and burlap seam binding on the bottom.  Then started layering my leaves and flowers.  They are from Wild Orchid Flowers.  Tuck them in where you think they need to go.  My Hymn Girl is colored with Stampin Up Watercolor pencils.  She has dimensionals behind her to pop her up a little bit.

Below is a close up of the flower arrangement.  I love how the tag turned out!

I hope you'll jump over the Party Time Tuesday blog-we have some fabulous designers.  Every Tuesday there is a new challenge where you can win prizes.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a FANTASTIC Friday!!!

RRR Fall Challenge

I've been hoarding my Wild Orchid Flowers, Really Reasonable Ribbon & string pearls.
Thought there would be nothing better than to use them in a Really Reasonable challenge.
Challenge #102 is Autumn Colors with Ribbon or Trim
I started with a Prima tag, covered it on both sides with some pattern paper in my stash.  Using Inspired Stamps I stamped some song notes on the background and used the sentiment from the same stamp set.  The hymnal girl is from Inspired Stamps as well. Colored her with Stampin Up water color pencils.

I started layering some lace, burlap trim and string pearls.  Added some orange skeleton leaves in the back, then started layering Wild Orchid Flowers.
