Masked and stenciled background. Frame style.

I'm definitely in the fall mood!  I've been wanting to do some pumpkins for some time.
I wanted to highlight Rebecca Baer's stencils in the design.

I started by taping off a border around the canvas. I didn't measure-just eyeballed it.
The painted the whole  inside with  burnt umber. I used a "X" stroke to give more texture.

Then I stenciled warm white on top with Dragonfly Fantasy 12x12 stencil. When I got to the bottom, just flip the stencil over and connect the pattern.
Then I peeled the tape off and put it on the inside block. Used Cascade Stencil size 5.75x5.75 to do the border. I turned it while going around the edge.

In order to tone down the brightness, I painted watered down gold over top the canvas.
I sketched my pumpkins out with a white charcoal pencil, then painted them in.

I hope you're inspired to use your stencils in your artwork.

Mark 11:22 Inspired Canvas with Deco Art

How do I love Deco Art products??
Let me count the ways!

I wanted to use a black canvas for something. (Actually I messed a picture up and painted the whole thing black!) I knew when I saw the scripture at Word Art Wednesday, I wanted to use it.

I printed the scripture out 8x10 and transferred to the canvas. Using a white posca pen, I outlined the scritpure.
Then I started searching Pinterest!  My favorite place for inspiration.
I found a picture of a Cherry Blossom tree., and that's why I wanted to do.
I love having scripture around the house. This free scripture is available to Word Art Wednesday.

Flight of Fancy Mixed Media

Happy Wednesday!
Karen here to inspire you to use your Rebecca Baer stencils!
To start, I put a coat of gesso on the 8x10 canvas with a spatula (or you can use a credit card)
While it was still damp, I spritzed Delusions yellow and coffee. I rolled a paper towel roll over top-it creates a great texture.

Then using Rebecca Baer stencil Flights of Fancy, I added Hansa Yellow Medium and Naphtol Red.
Once dry, I added some metal accents, pearls and wild orchid flowers.

I love how it turned out!
