Great Outdoors with Blue Fern Studio

I haven't done a scrapbook page in several weeks!  My pictures are backing up!
The July sketch from Blue Fern Studio's was beckoning me!!
using a sturdy piece of designer paper so I could ink and spray with water was the first place I started.  I tore pieces of cardstock to match my granddaughter's outfit for the layering pieces.  Edged them with gesso to tone down the brightness.  The pink flowers were made using a piece of leftover sprayed cardstock.  The pink blended well with the pics.  I also stenciled some little flowers before applying the blue distress ink -they show thru beautifully.

The tree branch at the top was inspired by Gabriella.  Mine is not as dainty as hers. I made mine with the twist paper that was popular years ago. Rubbed some brown distress ink on top.

The Blue Fern items I used is the Great Outdoors title, the bunny rabbit and the single white flower on a stem.  All 3 were dabbed with Rangers white distress paint.  Did 3 coats.  Wanted them to stand out.

My masterpiece is now hanging in my Art Studio. I like to look at them when I finish before tucking them away in an album!

I'm entering Blue Fern's challenge found -HERE
If you've never used their chipboard-you should!  Very intricate designs.  I have bought several sets and the quality is superb!

Happy Friday everyone!!

Cest Magnifique January Sketch

I love participating in their challenges.  I really had fun with this layout.
Started with a plain piece of vanilla 12x12 cardstock.

Using stencils and distress inks I did my background.
I wanted to feature my new grandson, my almost 2yr old granddaughter and of course-the proud grandparents!!

I pulled out some old stickers in my stash that was perfect for the way I feel. F for family, treasure, cherish and grandma.  I look forward to the new year and being the best grandma I can be!

I had some wooden scrolls (almost covered up by the flowers), the flowers are prima. I like them because they are fairly flat and work well on layouts going into albums.  All the pearls are from Wild Orchid Flowers.  The designer paper-one piece is Tim Holtz and the other is DCWV.

New Year's Eve Party @ OWSE

Some of us at OWSE stayed up to see the new year start!
We had challenges all night. It was lots of fun (& laughs)

First we followed a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers HERE

THEN Robyn gave us a whole list of commands that we had to use on something AND we only had 30 minutes!
Commands: rhinestones, dots/circles, flourish, letters, stencils, paint, stripes, lace, the word ENJOY, distress, watercolor technique, angel and glitter
It's hard to see the top of the box, but I covered with my vintage photo distress paint dabber.  Dried good with heat tool and then stenciled Tim Holtz alphabet with walnut distress stain, stenciled the "stripes" with another stencil.
After stamping my angel onto white cardstock and cutting out, I distressed the edges with my scissors. I "watercolor" painted her using Tim Holtz distress pens and my water color pen-love the effect.  Her face was colored with Derwent colored pencils.
I added pearls (dots/circle) to the top of the flourish and rhinestones at the top of her.

Around 11:15PM the challenge was to make something that represents how we want to spend 2014.
AND we only had 30 minutes!!
With my new grandson being born just a few days ago-there's no question how I'll be enjoying my year!
I did a layout.  Did some stenciling on top of cream 12x12 cardstock. Layered several scrap pieces of designer paper.  Had some wooden flourishes and stickers that added that special touch.

It's been YEARS since I was awake for a new year and I really enjoyed spending my time with my crafting friends doing what I love!
I almost forgot-One of our challenges was to wear a funny hat!  Here's the picture of mine!

Thanks Robyn & gals from OWSE!

I pray your 2014 will be Happy & Prosperous.  Put God first and he'll take care of the rest!

"Wonder" of December for Once Upon a Sketch

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of my granddaughter. At 11 months old, toys weren't important that year.  She was all about climbing into the window sill from the back of the couch!

The look on her face with the light shining thru the curtains is "Wonder". So that's what I named my layout. I adore how it turned out!

I used the sketch from Once Upon a Sketch. The challenge: Our favorite month. How can you not pick December?  Fun-family-friends!!
I used my G45 Christmas paper and a few chipboard pieces.
I journaled on one of the cards from the collection.  I used picket fence distress paint on all the layers to tone them down.

Here's a closeup of the texture medium on my faux brick.  I had the letters in my stash forever.  I doubled two colors so it would show up.

Thanks for stopping!!

Baby Boy!! MME supplies

I have a new Grand baby Boy!!!
This is the first picture I have of him.  Don't worry-I'll get lots more when I visit them Christmas Day!!

I'm using the sketch at MME.  Find it here.
I was so inspired by Jules you tube video I did a partial casing of it (with her permission of course)
See hers HERE
I started by mixing Salty Ocean distress stain with some Liquitex modeling paste. Used by Brick wall stencil.
Below I took some acrylic paint and splattered some (watered down), then used a tooth brush and flicked tiny spots.

This is my name plate-I loved the way Jules did hers and had some cheesecloth myself, so I printed the details out on my computer and viola! Really cute detail.  The designer paper and chipboard embellishments are from MME "The Sweetest Thing".  Really perfect for this first picture of my new grandson!!
Heres a closeup of the layered papers.
Here's the finished layout! I LOVE IT!!!

Thanks Jules for the inspiration.  Thanks MME for the sketch!
I hope you are inspired to make yours!

Tiny Miracles

I love scrapping pictures of my granddaughter!
I'll soon have a 2nd grand baby and I can't wait!! Anytime now.
I was inspired by the challenge at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration.
I loved the color scheme.  My grand daughter was born 1/6/12.

I fussy cut the picture of the beautiful flowers she received and wrote words on the petals with a silver marker pen.

I'm also entering this into the challenge at Word Art Wednesday where they're doing ANYTHING GOES!

Fall Fun with C'est Magnifique

I love fall colors and when I saw the sketch at C'est Magnifique this month-I knew just what I wanted to do.  These are pictures of my granddaughter last fall at the lake.  The leaves were beautiful.
I started with a piece of KandCo designer paper. I ran gesso around the edges  of both pages.  I did some stenciling and then used some Ranger Distress embossing in mustard seed for the diamonds.  Love how it turned out.

I used my stampin up leaf die and ink them up with antique photo distress ink.  The two red flowers I stamped and fussy cut with my new set Eclectica from Paper Artsy. I punched some using Tim Holtz paper and distressed them.  Can you tell I like distressing??

Here's my finished layout.  I LOVE IT!  I hope ya'll will jump over to C'est Magnifique BlogSpot and play yourself.  Check out the wonderful sketch.

Have a great week!!

C'est Magnifique Sketch with G45 Le Cirque paper

I love following C'est Magnifique.  Their sketches are always wonderful.
Here's the August Sketch.

I've been using some G45 Le Cirque paper.  I wanted to incorporate that with their sketch.
Here's my result (sorry it's crooked!)

I love how you can fussy cut details from their paper to use.  Look at this fabulous conversation scene between the circus characters!

Hope you all have a FABULOUS FRIDAY!!!!

Layout is for sale at my Etsy Shop -KC Inspired

Once Upon A Sketch-Beautiful & Original

I've been creating layouts for several days now! Once I get started-I can't stop!
Here is a layout from Dominican Republic.  Our cruise May 2012.

This was my favorite stop.  Because you see-the little town was for artists to live in.  They are self sufficient there.  They live, eat, create & sell their craft there.
I was so excited to even be in their presence!  They had a humble spirit about them.  I'm sure they are used to the "American's" gawking at them!
For my background, I applied gesso to most of the paper and then stamped Memento Espresso truffle with a script stamp over the whole page.

I used a piece of cheese cloth on one corner and under the bottom picture the cheese cloth is stiff with modeling paste (I used it on a canvas to get texture). Tried making my flowers from crocheted bit, taffeta, antique metal buttons. Kind of fits the theme I thought.

I'm entering the layout at Once Upon A Sketch. Their August theme is journaling. So I did it right on my page.  I like it!  Thanks for the jumping point!

Natual Beauty w/C'est Magnifique Sketch

C'est Magnifique  have the most beautiful sketches.  I turned the sketch so I could decorate from the left side.

Here's the August sketch I followed:

August Sketch Challenge

The background started as a vanilla cardstock.  I stamped a big stamp in a colorbok gold color, the stenciled the brown flowers with vintage photo ink.
I layered some beautiful stickers to decorate.
I love it!

Cutie Pie with Unity

I just got a new order back from Unity.  They had LOTS of good deals.
I used 3 different stamp sets below.  I know-3 in one layout? They mix & match great too!

Love in Return: I stamped the frame outline on the solid pink cardstock
Modern Chit Chat: the speech bubbles & LOL
You are my main squeeze: Itty Bitty by Phyllis Harris is the CUTE little girl huggy her teddy.

I followed Unity's sketch challenge this week.  I'm trying to keep my layouts flatter so I don't tear my albums up.  I made my flowers using Stampin Up punches.  I glued some trim on a circle punch for the centers.  Gave lots of diminsion.  My beautiful vintage lace also adds such a sweet touch.  The paper is a variety of companies: Teresa Collins, Color Bok, MME.
My coloring is done with Derwent Pencils.

Every page I scrap with my granddaughter is perfect!  She gives me inspiration in her sweet smile!

Thank You God for my Mom

This week at  Inspired Stamps the verse for our challenge is
Psalm 92:4

I'm so thankful for my Mom.  She's been a rock for our whole family at one time or another.
I was diagnosed with cancer January 2005. for the next year my Mom was there for me.
She spent the night in the hospital with me during my week of surgery, took me & picked me up every week for my chemo treatments, she encouraged me when I was down, brought me food when I couldn't cook, cleaned me up when I was sick all over myself, held me on the commode when I didn't have the strength, asked questions of the doctors when I couldn't think straight, best of all-she prayed for me-day and night.
I could have never had a better caregiver in the world.

Both our birthdays is in January.  The picture on my layout is this past weekend at Outback Steak house celebrating my birthday.  I can't wait till 1/31/13-that's when we'll celebrate her birthday!

The paper is from stampin up. Presto pattern. It started off white with embossed words.  I rubbed a couple of different distress inks over it so the embossed words would show up.  I stamped and stenciled on top of that.
Added a few embellishments and was done. I love how it turned out.
Most of all-I love my Mom!

Monkey Business

I have so many beautiful pictures of my granddaughter!

I've done this layout from a sketch at  My Creative Sketches
The DP is Animal Crackers.
Thought it fit her PJ's very well.  It was a lot of fun playing.

Fluid Art with DecoArt Interference Paint

I've been experimenting with fluid art.   Trying to get cells to create is hard! I've tried multiple mediums, multiple products.  Th...
