DIY Design Studio Valentine X5

DIY Design Studio has some adorable digital Valentine Art. Now that I have my new Cricut, it will cut around each image!  I love that!

I have decorated each card with items from my stash!
It's amazing how much "stuff" we collect over the years!

I stamped on each envelope. It adds a nice touch and I think the person receiving the card gets a little excited as soon as they see the envelope.

No stamping-Mother's Day card=WOW!!!!

 Happy Monday!
Mother's Day is coming up and I've been making cards like crazy!  The Altered pages collages have some of the best images to use!
This one comes from 1731D Bits and Pieces.  When receiving a collage sheet, there are numerous images on one sheet.  What works the best for me is to crop the pictures in Microsoft word and then resize them in Paint. Works like a charm!

The bottom layer (image 1) I took a paint brush and rubbed some gesso around the edges and then sprinkled extra fine glitter around the edge and allowed to dry.
Layering designer paper really gives depth and dimension.

I wrapped a piece of seam binding around the postcard images after adding it to another piece of designer paper.
Add it to the background with foam dimensionals.  Then added flowers around the edge. I did the same technique on the flowers -adding gesso with a paint brush and then sprinkling glitter on top of it while wet.  Close up of the flowers (image 3)

The four corners is a piece of extra lattice I had cut in my stash. I cut it out more to create some corners.  In the end, I added flat back pearls to them as well.

There are so many collage choices -it's hard to choose which one to use, but I bet you'll find several you could use that you'll love!

Journaling with Stencils & AP

Journaling has become a great way for me to document my bible study time.
The pictures you can get from Altered Pages Collage sheets really tie in with what I'm trying to design.

I've used 1456D Angel Voices and 524D Holy Cards.

We've partnered with Stencils 1 this month.  I used a chain stencil. It comes with 4 different ones!
To see the technique I used on the chains-jump over to Altered Pages Blog for the video tutorial.   ALTERED PAGES BLOG

Let's Get Organized with Altered Pages

Happy Monday!! We are sharing storage ideas this month at Altered Pages.

This is pictures of a wardrobe built by my great uncle around 100 years ago using cedar off his farm.
My husband revamped it for one of my storage units.

I have all my deco paints in the main section so I can easily reach them. Have a plastic storage box with their stencils on the upper level, a handmade basket with my finished cards, a square drawer box that holds all my envelopes (neatly labeled).

The bottom layer holds my many collected frames, an unfinished quilt, a tackle box with tools, beads, metal stuff.

On the side (pic #2) I have a metal wire hanger attached to the wardrobe (was originally used for canned goods-bought at Lowe's) I store my older Stampin up stamps.
On the tiptop (pic #3) we bought a old timey storage box and took the legs off & hoisted up onto the wardrobe. I keep things I recycle: file folders, clipboards, and cardboard.

On top of the unit I have a big plastic tub for yarn and mini albums I've started & not finished.

This is just one corner of my room!!  Later in the month, I will charge via video my remaining room.  I'll need time to straighten up. Been making Valentine's cards like CRAZY!

So where do I store my supplies from Altered Pages????   You'll have to check back Feb 16th. I'm going to do a video with lots more options!!

All month long our designers will be sharing ideas.  Check in daily!! Altered pages....

Journaling with AP and DecoArt

Hope you are having a blessed month of January!
This month Altered Pages has partnered with DecoArts.
Such a great pairing!! Both have loads of products to use for any crafting projects you may be making.  I've just started art journaling and combining products and seeing what works together the best is so much fun!!
I've used Altered Pages Collage sheet "Heart of my Hearts" coupled with
DecoArts Chalky Paints, Metallic Wax, Satin Varnish.

Below: I stenciled the keys on using texture paste. Allow to dry. Applied Rustic Chalky Finish paint over the whole page. Using a brush, I highlighted the keys with beige Chalky Finish paint, some of the Metallic Wax in gold and brown. Outlined all the keys with black watercolor pencil and smeared it with a watercolor brush pen. Final step:  Mixed together varnish and rustic paint over the whole page. Wrote in my thoughts using a white gel pen.
Both pages were prepped with white gesso. The left side I did a wash with the mix of varnish and rustic chalky paint. The two red hearts were stenciled on with texture paste. Colored with DecoArt Rouge Chalky Finish paint. The Altered Pages collage sheet was cut and added with DecoArt decoupage for paper. I went around the hearts and the printed words with black and red watercolor pencil. Blend it in with the watercolor brush pen.  Stamped various stamps around the page with Black Archival ink to finish it off.

Journal Page Front 2015

Happy New Year!
My first project for the new year.
Altered Pages is partnering with DecoArts this month!!

I wanted to share with you their Metallic Luster products.
I'm starting a prayer journal for 2015.
While thinking about wanting to draw closer to God, I was thinking about how I want my heart to be like his heart. I want to love others, have compassion, grow closer to Him.

I made a 4 layer heart with cardboard. Each layer fourth an inch smaller so they would stack.
Glued them together. Applied texture paste around the edges and on top.
I used a Glitz texture roller on top to create some dimension. Allow to dry overnight.
Painted the whole thing brown.
Painted a coat of DecoArt White Antiquing cream.
Once dry, you take a damp rag and wipe off as much as you want-leaving
behind the white in the crevices.
Now time for the fun & transformation!!
using a soft rag (I have cut up tshirts) you rub on the wax.
I started with some red, then brown & topped it with some gold.
Using DecoArts lacy doily and some gesso, I did some stenciling around the page.
I cut slits in the designer paper to make room for the heart to nestle inside. Even rubbed a little white antiquing cream on the edges of the paper!
I layered flowers (using my finger I hit the edges in some gesso to tone them down) around the heart.
I added foam numbers and outlined them with a black Faber castle pen. Added some corner stickers.
I wound the fiber around the flowers to indicate how my heart and God's are going to mingle together!!

Here's a peek at the depth of God's heart! His heart is HUGE! His love for us is HUGE!

If you'd like to see a video tutorial on this -check it out at Altered Pages Blog
The Altered Pages store sells lots of the products I've used today.
The store for DecoArt products is-HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope your 2015 is a happy and healthy one!!
