I'm using a Mixed Media Art Journal to try my hand at these faces.
I did some collaging with teal paint on top before draying in the faces.
Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. She dreamt of being a doctor. She was stricken by tragedy. She was in love with artist Diego Rivera, and then some. She is a style icon. She rarely cracked a smile. She was born & died in the Casa Azul.
Georgia O’Keeffe!
- She was deeply interested in the natural world.
- O’Keeffe married the art dealer and photographer who propelled her to fame.
- Her marriage was marked with affairs.
- O’Keeffe’s most famous works were her flower still-lifes.
- She never stopped creating.
- She always wanted to be an artist since she was a child.
- She loved to draw nature from the backseat of a Model-A Ford.
- She created more than 200 paintings of flowers.
- She was 98 years old when she passed away.
One thing for sure-this is taking me out of my comfort zone. I have loads to learn. Need more practice!!!
