Wedding Canvas with Lindy's Stamp Gang

TGIF!

I wanted to share with you this mixed media canvas I created for a newlywed couple.

I used lots of layers of diecuts and gesso.  The swirls are chipboard.
After gluing everything down with Liquitex gel medium, I applied a layer of gesso.

Allow to dry and then get your sprays out!
I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Moon Shadow colors.
I dried each color before applying the next one.  Gave lots of personality!!
I cut the names and date with my Cricut Jasmine cartridge.  Added those with gel medium under and on top of them-they aren't going anywhere!!

The last thing I added was the metal "together" "forever" words.

I love how it turned out!  The bride did too!!

I wish Amber and Curtis the absolute best in their married life.  I pray they put God first and everything else will take care of itself!

Have a terrific Friday!!

Cardboard take new life!

Look at this fabulous creation!!!!
I'm so pleased with how it turned out.
The best part - can you tell what the substrate is?

Cardboard!!
Approximately 8x16
Added some designer paper, some gesso, some paint, some stenciling, etc.
Did some Cricut cutouts of butterflies, printed and cut the words on my printer.  The wonderful lady was a digital image win from Cynthialoowho.  Find her shop HERE

If you have any questions-please leave me a comment.  Otherwise-go create!!!!

Love Plaque with stenciled cabbage roses

I hope you're here from the sneak peek at Party Time Tuesdays.

I started with an 11x14 board.  I layered some designer paper with liquitex matte medium.
You go around all the edges of the paper with white paint (use your finger)  It helps the pieces to blend together.  Then I stenciled with modeling paste one of Retta's stencils. Cabbage roses.  The camera picked up the images beautifully.
Then I started coloring with Gelatos.   I hand cut some hearts and added them with the matte medium.
After it was all applied, I painted around the edges and smeared with my finger to outline everything and make it pop.

I print my sentiments and/or poems out from Word Pad, spray with sealer and then add to my project.
I love the texture that stenciling with modeling paste gives.  Add lots of depth and character to your pieces.
Thanks for stopping by!

Roots and Wings Canvas

Here's a new mixed media canvas I finished.
It features a cutter file from Retta.  The tree!!
Isn't it spectacular!

The butterflies are four layers on top of each other.  I've added an flower or pearl embellishment in the middle of each one.

After gluing the tree down, I went around everything with a watered down brown and then black edge.  Smear a little with your finger.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you are inspired to do your own mixed media project.

Thank You Mixed Media Challenges

I've heard people talking about gelli plates.  Don't have one, but was so inspired by Steph Ackerman at Eclectic Paperie-that I had to try something!!

I've had a couple of rubber shims to use with my Big Shot-but I don't use them!
I put some globs of paint on them, rolled over them, laid my Stencil by Retta on top and started playing!
Make no mistake about it-it was Messy!!  Reminded me of finger painting mess! LOL
But it worked!!

Below are some examples.  The right side I rubbed while the stencil was on top of the paint. Didn't get much color so I took the stencil off and rubbed the left side over top.  Look at the nice texture!!

Here's another example.  I sprinkled black and purple paint watered down using a paint brush.
 Below is another example.
My finished product!!  I inked the edges with Denium Blue distress ink.  Added a fussy cut stamped image from Unity Stamps.  The sentiment is a Stampin Up stamp (stamped with black stazon)

I LOVE how it turned out.  Can't wait to turn the rest of the pages into treasured cards.

Mixed Media on Wood

I did a mixed media project on a wooden plague.  It's a graduation present for my best friend.
She's 50+ and just finished her Master's!!  That's a pretty awesome accomplishment.
She deserved an awesome gift.
I used a stencil by Retta in the corners.  Next added a layer of gesso.  Faber Castel Gelatos came next. Look at those colors!! Retta and I were on Skype at the time and she helped with wonderful suggestions of where to add which color.  (thanks Retta!!)
The butterfly is a Stampin Up stamp that I embossed in white, sponged Tim Holtz distress inks on, then fussy cut it.  The gate and vines are SVG files (from Retta!!) that I cut using my cricut.

Below is a close up of the texture paste thru the stencil.  If your interested in getting some of Retta's stencils, go to Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium.  Her cutter files (SVG) can be found at her Etsy store Royal Inspirations by Retta

I'm entering the Eclectic Paperie Challenge. Using stencils.
