Word Art Wednesday Challenge/FREE word Art

This is my last post as guest designer at Word Art Wednesday.
I hope you won't stop going every Wednesday to see what the new FREE art is.
This week is from James 5:8

I've used Kaiser Craft paper pad.  I printed my scripture, stamped some flowers in tattered rose distress ink randomly and backed it in crumb cake.  The flower is Prima.
I've stamped the praying girl from Inspired Stamps.

It's been my pleasure to fill in with the talented Word Art Wednesday design team!!

P. S.
I do want to add-our Lord is going to return soon.  Please make sure you are ready!

Anything Goes @ Party Time Tuesday #187

This weeks challenge at Party Time Tuesday is ANYTHING GOES!!
I wanted to create a country themed project using an embroidery hoop.  I started with a piece of muslin then stamped and inked on it.  Stretched it into the hoop and cut off the excess on the back.  You will need to cut slits around the edges so it will flatten nicely.

Then I started adding embellishments.  That was the fun part!  I layered a die cut tag, a heart, a cricut cut Love sentiment, a heart shaped button with twine, a metal flower with some burlap underneath....I LOVE how it turned out!

I also bought a bigger hoop for another country project.

Now head on over the Party Time Tuesday blog and see what our other designers have featured.  Enter your own project to be entered for the prize!!

Button Challenge @ Craft Hoarders Anonymous

A challenge made for me!! BUTTONS!  Check it out at Craft Hoarders Anonymous.
Buttons are another thing I hoard!! There is a tiny sewing/craft shop in Rocky Mount, VA that I would spend hours going thru her buttons.  A nickel each.  I would sometimes spend $10 on buttons!! Shush!  Don't tell my husband!! LOL

My project today features a large pack of buttons purchased at Walmart.  They have fun and bright colors.
I love altering boxes.  The paper is from my stash-I won several sheets in a challenge.  Fits perfectly with my button theme.  To decorate some of the edges-I used some border punches.
After you gesso the edges of your box-inside & out-then you add your paper.  The lid was too tight, so I cut the one side of the lid and attached to the bottom of the box with E6000 glue. It forms a hinge. Works great!
I've decorated the sides of my box with multi colored buttons layered.  I usually put "feet" on the bottom of my box-in this case they are brown buttons!!

I've enjoyed this challenge very much.  The box will be going with me to a craft show tomorrow in Danville, Virginia.  Finished it just in time!

Word Art Wednesday challenge

I'm still filling in at Word Art Wednesday.
For this weeks wonderful scripture I Samuel 2:2-I included it on this altered clipboard.
I love altering things and I especially love including scripture on them!

I hoard Heartfelt Creations designer paper!!  That's right-I admitted it-I HOARD it!
This particular page is so beautiful with the lattice and flowers.  I just couldn't cut it up-I don't care if the other side is different!  In trying to decide which side to use-this page was easy-I love the lattice.

The Prima girl is pieced together, glossy accents added to her headband and shoes.
I did an experiment on the back of the clipboard.  I coated it in gesso and then embossed this stamp with white embossing powder.  I had to heat it a long time.  I think if I had waited for the gesso to dry overnight, the embossing powder would have heated quicker.

It still turned out great!  I layered distress inks overtop of it.  When you do that-take a paper towel & wipe overtop to clean the ink off your embossed areas.

You'll need to go to Word Art Wednesday website and link your creation.

This weeks prizes include:  Nice Crane Designs (digital sponsor $20 voucher) - and Prairie Point Junction $15 gift certificate

Unity Stamp Monthly Challenge

Every month at Unity Stamp Company they have a challenge -you can use the color scheme, the card sketch or a layout sketch.  I've used the color scheme and card sketch together on this one.

One major rule: You can only use Unity Stamps.  Well-I wanted to do a Halloween card.  I don't normally-but the color scheme was screaming-----HALLOWEEN!!!!

I knew I had won one "spooky" stamp-so I pulled it out.  They I looked thru my stash of Unity stamps and decided to use this phone/camera-not sure what it is-but I like it.
I did some stenciling with my brick wall stencil from Retta.  HERE-Stencils by Retta.
I cut my spooky spider with one of my Cricut Cartridges.  Stamped the Spooky stamp with black staz on.  I put glossy accents on both the spider and the stamped image.  Look at the little line I drew for the spider trail!! Cute!
Below is a picture of the inside of the card.  I used another Unity Stamp on the orange piece-I love how the card turned out!  My son & daughter in law will be receiving this when Halloween gets here.
Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate any comments you want to throw my way!

Friends With Flair Unity Challenge

I love Unity Stamps and I like participating in their challenges.  Today is Friends with Flair Friday!
I've made a mixed media tag with Andi Girl.

I have layers of distress ink on the manila folder.  Started with a stencil from my friend Retta.  Called Daisy.  You can find her stencils in her Etsy store -HERE.  She has SVG files and stencils.
I colored Andi Girl with Stampin Up watercolor pencils.  Fussy cut her and added her to my tag.
This is the back of my tag.  Designer paper and the sentiment that goes with Andi.

Unity Stamps are excellent quality & they make a lot of them!  They run deals all the time.  I hope you'll check them out.

Word Art Wednesday Colossians 1:27

This week at Word Art Wednesday the scripture is Colossians 1:27.

It's a beautiful verse.
I wanted to do a watercolor card.
I used 140 pd Strathmore watercolor paper.
I embossed with clear the leaves and flowers.
I colored them in with Tim Holtz distress markers and a water paint brush.

This is one of my favorite techniques.  Easy -but lots of pop!  I distressed the edges of the paper with my scissors and popped it onto some blue cardstock.  Hope you like it-I love doing it.  Really relaxing to paint.

Be sure and check out all the designers this week at Word Art Wednesday.  You can win prizes and get the FREE scripture art.

The sponsors this week is:
Classy Cards 'N Such $15 - and Your Next Stamp $20

Watercolor Technique @ Party Time Tuesdays

Hi everyone!!
Are you here from Party Time Tuesdays??
If not-be sure and go back so you can get in on all the designers watercolor creations.
We have weekly challenges-so get in on the fun & prizes!!

These cards were done with distress ink-but it looks like watercolor doesn't it?!

I started by embossing my stamped images in white.  Using a sponge, I rubbed my color onto my cardstock in circular motion.  If you want darker around the image-like the blue example-use a paint brush to apply the ink.  Allow the ink to dry completely.  Using a water pump (or you can sprinkle with your fingers) spray some water on top.  I know this part is scary-but trust me-it will be worth it.
You need to let it sit for a minute or so-then take a paper towel and blot the water off.  It makes the most wonderful spots!!

The brown one below I didn't blot at all-left it to dry with the water on it.  The sooner you blot the water off, the lighter the water spots will be.
Once done, I simply added a punched tag with my sentiment & my card is done!

I hope you'll give this a try for yourself!!

Word Art Wednesday Psalms 147:4

I'm excited to share with the other ladies at Word Art Wednesday this month!
I'm filling in for one of their regular designers.  It's such a pleasure!

They have FREE scripture every week that you can use (it's not required-but why wouldn't you use something that's free?)

Here's my card I designed for this weeks scripture Psalms 147:4.

I started with plain white cardstock.   I printed the scripture and cut it so it would be card front size.
I embossed the gold stars.  The stamp is an old Stampin up one I had in my stash.  Anytime I need stars-I pull it out!
The tree is another Stampin Up stamp-I wanted it to look like it was in the background-used crumb cake ink.
Then I got to work with my distress inks and a sponge.

My card came in handy-there's a friend of mine going thru a very difficult illness.  She needed some encouragement.  How much more encouraging is it to know if God named and keeps up with the stars-how much more he loves and keeps up with us!

I hope you'll hop over and submit your creation!  They always have generous sponsors with great prizes!!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week!
