Layered Graduation Mixed Media Cards

Been working on graduation cards.
Bassett High School colors are orange and blue.

This first card I cut the 2016 out from black cardstock (using Cricut) and layered the blue behind it.
Then added layers and layers of stars (cut with Cricut)
For finishing touches-added glitter glue to the stars that were raised with dimensional's.

I used my Cricut for cutting out this boat/wave.  This young man is going on a cruise for his graduation present!!
I was inspired from Pintrerst for this card design.  I did add some bling though!  I dry embossed the blue and ran the orange strip thru the Big Shot with Swiss Dot folder.

Faith/Hope/Love Mixed Media Canvas

I am super excited to share my first post as a Design Team member for Rebecca Baer!!
I've used several of her beautiful stencils on this mixed media canvas along with her specially designed stenciler brush.
I started out with a 16x20 canvas that I paint with lots of white and burnt umber tones. I divided the canvas into rectangles using washi tape and painters tape and painted solid blocks of red and brown.
Then I got out my stencils! Today I've combined four different stencils using the stenciler.
As I moved the stencils around the canvas, only using sections of some of the stencils, but the whole stencil in some areas, I repeated the main colors. Some area were overlapped with multiple stencils. Some area after the paint had dried, I added some Metallic Lustre in matching colors in random areas.
Rebecca's Stenciler does such an awesome job allowing you get get a crisp image from the stencil.
Once I was happy with my layout, I used some background stencils from my stash with some Black Archival ink and dabbed in random areas. This is how you start bringing the whole canvas together. I even did some dabbing with bubble wrap and white paint.
After deciding what inspirational words I'd use, I cut Faith, Hope and Love with my Cricut. To add more dimension and variety, I used the negative to do more stenciling with white paint on top of the words.
I attached the cut out words with Matte Medium. Went around the letters with burnt umber and black to highlight them. To tone down the white paper, I painted on top of the words with a mix of white paint and Rose Gold Metallic Lustre.

I'm already displaying my finished piece on my mantle! I love how it turned out.  I hope you'll be inspired to layer your stencils and mix them up!

Mixed Media Birthday Cards

I wanted to share how I created a mixed media card using
Rebecca Baer and DecoArt Stencils, Stamping and embellishments.

Using Gelli Plate is one of my favorite ways to make my own deisgns. I laid the part of the stencil over the plate that I wanted to use. Rebecca Baer Dragonfly Fantasy stencil.

I applied two shades of Americana acrylic paint with my brayer. Pulled print number one.
Allow the design on the plate to dry.

Brayer white on top of dried design and pull print number two.
On the first card I used watercolor pencils to add some dimension to the dragonfly.
I stamped the Prima girl and fussy cut her out. Added her with dimensions. Coloring was done with watercolor pencils.

Heres a close up showing the glitter glue I added to the dragonfly.
For the 2nd card I started with Heartfelt Creations designer paper. Heat embossed the doily using white embossing powder.

I wanted spring colors. The Close to the Heart Country Life stamp set from  was perfect!
I stamped the cute lamp with the sentiment. The back circle was cut from the first gelli print.
Love the orange and purple colors!

I'm entering Craft Stamper Magazine challenge

Cowboy Girl Birthday!

Happy Saturday!
I've designed a custom birthday card.
The request was for a 17 year old girl using cowboy boots.

I hand drew the boot on tan SU cardstock. Ran it thru Big Shot using Sizzix Flourish embossing folder. I inked up one side with SU Bravo Burgundy which created this cool two toned look.

I used Zig Artist Sketching Pen to outline the boot and draw the heel.
Next, I applied Metallic Lustre -Fab Fushia with my finger.
Shiny highlights!

I knew I wanted to show both boots standing up. I designed a Z-Fold.
Started with 10x7 white cardstock. Scored at 2 3/4 and 5 inches.
             Covered with designer paper.
folded and attached the boots with SU dimensionals.

This is did dots using Liquid Pearl White Opal

Then I decorated with Flourish with a Bling pearls and
Wild Orchid flowers.
The sentiments were stamped on tan cardstock and punched the edges with scallop punch.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a terrific weekend!
