Happy Easter with RRR

You can't help but use those colors when doing an Easter card.

I've colored my images with colored pencils.
Added dark purple ribbon from RRR.
Flowers from Wild Orchid flowers.

I love this card!  It was a special order for a mother of an 11 yr old girl.
She loved it!

I hope you and your family have a great Easter.  Celebrating Christ's birth and resurrection is what it's all about.

DecoArt Media Misters /New Technique

Are you wondering how I got this cool marbling effect on this 5x7 canvas board???
Wonder no more!!
You use SHAVING CREAM!!!!  That's right and you even get the cheap kind at the Dollar Tree!  I sprayed it into an empty meat tray (that's right-I recycle) Smooth it out a little with a palette knife.
Then spray some paint randomly. I used Purple and Primary Cyan.  (I didn't know how the paints would respond since everyone I've seen do this technique uses inks-but it turned out great!!  DecoArt's misters have so much pigment they held up beautifully!!)

You can purchase DecoArt products -www.decoart.com

Swirl it around with your palette knife. Press your paper or canvas on top!
Pull it out and this is the results.  Use a flat ruler and scrap off the biggest part of the shaving cream & then take a paper towel & wipe off the remaining shaving cream.
I put it right back into my mixture and kept pulling papers thru until it was pretty grungy looking.
These are the first pieces I did on white cardstock.
These were scraps of cardstock. I'll use them another time for tags or cards.
I used my main pieces to decorate this tissue box!  Cool huh??
I stenciled the letters on with DecoArt Whimsical Delight letters and Americana black acrylic paint.
I painted the edges with Americana Eggplant multi-surface satin before gluing my papers on.  The box turned out nice.  Taking it to a craft show this weekend.  Someone will be winning a nice prize for registering.
Here a couple of 5x7 canvas I laid into blue foam. Really turned out nice. Love the marbling.
Give it a go yourself!  Experiment with different colors.  You can also use inks.

Gelli plate designs continue!

I'm still decorating the numerous gelli plate pages I designed!

I combined a muse stamp set-Dragonfly dreams and Kunze German scrap.

I think it turned out pretty sweet!
I embossed the dragonfly in black and then rubbed DecoArt Metallic Wax in blue over top and around the edges.  Then rubbed green wax around the rest of the white part.
Attached the German Scrap with glue.

The one below I used the tiny dragonflies and the smaller one.  I had the Eiffel tower and leaf flourish sitting on my table-thought I'd go ahead & use them.  Added some rhinestones and washi tape across the bottom.
We're partnering with Kunze this month.  The German Scrap is amazing!!

Friends with Flair/Gelli Plate Cards

I've already posted today, but I also had to participate in Unity Stamps

I love my Unity Stamps.
I'm attending a craft show tomorrow.  Finishing up the several gelli prints I've created in the last week.  The smoothness of the Americana Paint that I used on my prints allowed me to stamp right over it. Turned out beautiful!

This stamp set is called A Friend Loveth.
Didn't need to add much of anything else-looks FAB even if I say myself!!
I'll be selling encouragement cards to fund-raise for my Relay For Life team.  If you'd like to make a donation-I have a link on my sidebar.  If you'd like to purchase any cards-email me and I have a PayPal account we can use.

Gelli Plate and DecoArt = AMAZING CARD

DecoArt Owl Stencil = FUN!

I used Americana Paint, gelli plate to create my base.
Roll on a layer of Milk Chocolate-lay the stencil in place.
blot - pic #1
immediately peel your stencil off and lay it down & clean off. pic #2
Allow to completely dry before applying the next color.
Roll on Light Buttermilk.  Lay your cardstock on top & rub really good. When you pull your print-it's already dry!
I "embellished" the owl by adding some details with DecoArt Paper Effects.
They come with a fine tip to add to the regular tip on the bottle. Will give you a really fine line. Went around the edges and his eyes with Black Pearl.  Used Golden Pearl around the circles in his stomach. (funny how I'm identifying the owl as a male!!)  The dots in the center of his eye is White Pearl. Allow to dry & then add your embellishments.

Turned out to be a beautiful card!  I even used DecoArt Metallics on the black circle and sentiment. Using my finger, I rubbed some Orange Flicker.

Gelli Plate FUN!

I'm probably the last person in the word to get a gelli plate!
I broke down & got one from Altered Pages store. I LOVE IT!!!
Do you hear me squealing in delight??
I cannot believe I waited so long to try it!

I love layering the colors/stencils and seeing hat happens.

If you'd like to see the video of how I created these prints-jump over to the Altered Pages blog.
The wings are German scrap from our partnering company Kunze.  I received a bag full of goodies. Can't wait to create more projects with it.

Here are two more prints I pulled from trying my gelli plate. I haven't finished my cards yet.

You can get art supplies from Altered Pages.  The brayer, stencils, gelli plate and much more!

3 Special Lady Cards for Simons Wednesday Challenge

Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge is to do a Lady/Girly project.
It just so happens I had an order for 3 girl cards.

This first one was for a lady turning 70.  I found my inspiration on Pinterest.
I normally don't do white. I feel like I can't stay clean enough. I usually have ink/paint on me. But the card on Pinterest (found at docrafts.com) really intrigued me. Used my Silhouette, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Stampin Up flower punch, Wild Orchid silver pearls and a Stampin Up stamp sentiment.
This second card was for a 16 yr old who likes camo and trucks. This was the hardest one!  I printed some camo print (by Shelia Reid at pixelscrap.com) onto red cardstock for the background.  The truck and sentiment is an old Stampin Up set.  I white embossed the sentiment.  Colored the truck with Stampin Up watercolor pencils. Punched the flowers (SU) and edged them with Ranger Picket Fence distress paint.
This 3rd card is for an eleven year old that loves Paris, American Girls and her favorite color is purple.  This was the easiest one!! I love using my Wild Orchid Flower stash.
My background was created digitally using pages from pixelscrapper.com and Photoshop.  The sentiment is stamped from Glitz Stamps.  The girl is Prima.

Is that enough inspiration for one day??  I hope you liked at least one of them!!
Have a blessed day!

9x12 Mixed Media /Grateful Heart

Happy Wednesday-hump day!
I am excited to share with you a new -favorite- canvas I did.
I brayed a couple of Americana acrylic paint colors on the canvas.  Had to go back over the ones I really wanted to show up good (especially the red).
Then I sprayed black spritzer thru the stencil.  Did you know DecoArt also sells stencils??!!
They have some awesome ones to choose from.

Then I used warm white acrylic paint thru another DecoArt stencil (French Words).  Shows up so well.
The heart I hand drew on a piece of watercolor paper-I really wanted a thicker piece to DecoArt decoupage on my canvas.  I used my brayer for the heart as well. After several coats and layering, the paper started pulling up a little-really added to the texture.  To finish the heart, I went around the edges with black gelato & I dry brushed cream acrylic paint in the curves.  I really love how it turned out.
I used a white Posca pen to write the sentiment.
