Local Art Program with Youth

Our local Piedmont Arts Association had a grant that enabled our area at-risk youth to participate in an art program for the last 6 weeks.  I was blessed to be asked to help the local artist Jessie Ward.  I was able to incorporate my Social Art Networking designs into the class.  The teens did a great job!

At-risk teens are becoming more and more common in our society.  With all the bullying, drugs, split homes and financial poverty surrounding us, our kids hardly stand a chance.

If you see this post, please pray for our kids and youth every day. They are facing adult situations beyond their control a lot of times.  Unlike a lot of adults, they hold a lot of it inside.

This is a small example of how I pray Art can heal cracked and broken hearts.

More Than Words/40th Reunion

I've been wanting to participate in the challenges at More Than Words.
Time gets away from me, and I haven't gotten to do it.

When I saw the challenge about Highlights of our 2019 year, I wasn't sure which one to choose.  I had an amazing 2019!  ONE of the best ones was my 40th Class Reunion.

Repurposing a 12x12 canvas, I first glued designer paper all over it.  Once dry, I went to work with my Gelatos in red, blue, yellow and light blue.  Then I used a word background stamped and Stazon ink and went around it.  Added polka dots with a dauber and white paint.
Layered the pictures and added to the canvas.
Love it!

Mixed Media "Blessed"

I made this canvas to hang in my Sunday School class.
I was repurposing a canvas that had been traced with black magic marker.
I started by gluing pieces of designer paper on it.
Layered some paint.
Added verse using my Cricut.
Painted in some flowers and I was done!

Art doesn't have to be complicated.  It can be simple and still make a statement!

You can get free scripture Word Art made by Karen Murray at Word Art Wednesday.

I used DecoArt Americana Acrylic paint.

Grandparents Day Fun!

How many times do you start a project, get stumped how to finish, pick it back up months from then and viola! Finished!  As soon as I purchased these 8x8 canvases, I knew I wanted to do a Boeckh technique on them.  But that's when my inspiration ran out.

I've recently had some new pictures of my grandchildren developed and today being Grandparents day....I saw those canvas on the edge of my desk and I suddenly knew what I wanted to do!

I've been creating a Mini Album with this new paper pack called Have Faith by Echo Park.  I had some scraps and stickers left over.  Added some Prima flowers, and was done.

CAS Easy Peasy

When I saw the challenge at Simon Says this week, I knew I was going to participate.  Clean and Simple hasn't always been easy for me.  I want to add layers and layers!!
Using their stamp set I inked it with markers. Used blenders with leftover distress ink to "color" it. Was done in 5 minutes!!!  Love how it turned out!

Our Strength is from the Lord

Using my new Penny Black stamp set and die.  LOVE them!
Went thru my stash of gelli prints and then added details on top.

These encouraging words go well with the scripture from Word Art Wednesday this week.

We all are going thru trials, but everything we have, including our strength, comes for the Lord.  Be encouraged that our Lord knows our circumstances and is carrying us thru!
