PaperArtsy Mixed Media Picture

I hope you receive emails from PaperArtsy.  This week they are having 2013 Christmas Crackers.
Leandra used grunge paste to create a background that has texture and multiple colors.

I have been wondering what to do with some frames I had picked up at a yardsale this summer.
They conveniently have these nice wooden panels that come out.
In place of grunge paste-I used modeling paste. Not sure what the difference is, but it's all I had.
I mixed four different colors by adding 3 drops of colorwash inks. Purple, yellow, green and red (ended up pink adding it to the white paste)
I applied it on the board with a palette knife in various spots.  To add texture-before it dried, I used a piece of carpet on some of the spots. I also pressed a large flower from the Garden of Dreams PaperArtsy stamps.  I drew the word LOVE in one area.
I dried it really well and then applied a wash of dark primer.  It really grunged it up!
I wanted more definition to the flowers, so after it dried, I restamped the flower using pigment ink. I also stamped some leaves and another flower from the Garden of Dreams stamp set.
After it dried, I applied glitter glaze.  Here's a close up. Really made it POP!
Here are a couple of pictures of my finished piece.  I stamped a couple of the flowers on designer paper and fussy cut them out. After shaping the petals with my stylus, I  Layered them to the edges and put rhinestones in the centers.

The frame: I rubbed some picket fence distress paint on top and then stamped the vine stamp from the Garden of Dreams stamp set.

I hope you'll go over to PaperArtsy to  see Leandra's technique.  I didn't have the same products and had to improvise, but hers was beautiful!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hi my friend, I hope you had a beautiful Christmas. I love all the texture and how you applied that dark wash. I've not been to Leandra's site before, off to take a peek. I hope you're doing well.
